Our standard product is the small square bale of 55 pounds with a deviation of no more that two pounds. We use John Deere 348 balers with 2 strand baling wire. We can, however, bale to customer specifications on quantity purchases.

All hay is cut at the optimal time taking into consideration the type of grass and weather conditions. We use a conditioning cutter which smashes the stem to better prepare it for ease of chewing and digestion. We also tedder all hay twice for proper curing, and pay great attention to and measure moisture content prior to baling. No bales are left in the field overnight. All hay baled is picked up with a 1089 New Holland Bale Wagon in 160 bale stacks and stored in custom designed storage facilities.

The contribution levels of energy, protein, minerals and vitamins vary dependant on the type and quality of the hay. According to our research, we have found Coastal Bermuda and Tifton 85 both offer the highest nutritional values with regard to protein content (PC) and relative feed value (RFV). Based on a three -year study by the ARS Coastal Plain Experiment Station, Tifton, GA, Tifton 85 produced 26% more dry matter, was 11% more digestible, and 10% more succulent, surpassing all other varieties of grasses. This is one of our reasons for using it with our own horses as well as offering it to other horse owners who demand the best.

Each pasture receives an appropriate amount of nitrogen after each cutting and each field has its soil tested twice per year to determine any special needs. Great care has been paid to weed control and our hay is guaranteed to be at least 98% weed free. Every cutting of each grass is tested by an agriculture laboratory and test results are provided to each customer.
